Wants too long on the ball at the minute. Needs a rest
Yeah, can't be firing on all cylinders all the time.

He would benefit from somebody around him who moves us forward with the ball at their feet - allowing Davies to just get in and around the right positions for support. Last season that player was Barkley.

He will come good though. Without a doubt.

Shouldn't be starting. Midfield two of Gana and Rooney would be fine with Sig in front of those 2. We're playing newcastle next, ideal game to play Sandro, Mirallas or Lookman on the left.

Best he played was when we came from behind vs Brighton, off the bench. Sit him there and use him for that.
Bournemouth, but take your point. Do think he should be benched for the Newcastle game.

He's an excellent prospect - but he's a passenger in this team at the moment. We're not good enough or confident enough to harbour players in poor form.

Stick him on the bench for a month and put that pressure onto somebody else

We're being harsh on the lad imo. Players with a whole lot more Premier League experience than him struggled. International players who couldn't seem to string two passes together. Davies wasn't better than them, but he wasn't worse either imo.

Of course, we're all cock-a-hoop about stealing a point, but in the cold light of day that performance was an embarrassment. I don't think anyone would expect us to go to Anfield and play toe to toe with them, but we were dreadful, even at playing the counter attacking game we clearly set up to play.

I don't see how playing the cards you have, which include no striker, against a flying team could be considered "an embarrassment".
It was ugly to watch but any sort of expansion would have seen us lose the game.

Give him a break. still only young and didn't go for him yesterday in a massive game where the whole team were poor in possession.

All a learning process and hel benefit from it and bounce back on wednesday

To be fair I thought it was a bit embarrassing. It is ok going with a game plan and that is fine, but the fact we could barely scrape more than 2 passes together when we had the ball was not good. We would have actually prevented some of the pressure had we managed to keep possession longer thus helping towards the result.

We just couldn't attack in great numbers else we would have been picked off but they should have worked harder moving to give the man on the ball an easy out.

I'm not talking about playing defensively, that's not my gripe with that performance, it was that we played defensively so poorly. The first half in particular, even our long balls were going nowhere near their intended target and we were losing pretty much every 50/50 on the pitch (and quite a few 60/40s tbh). In that first half, for instance, we must have overhit balls a dozen times where they went straight out of play or straight through to their keeper. I remember Rooney had a freekick and it barely got off the ground, let alone made it into their box. We played terribly in all aspects bar the backs to the wall defending.

As for the striker comment, ours played in the same England youth team as the Liverpool striker, so if we don't have one, neither do they.

To be honest, to me, he hasn't looked able to get involved in a few games now, almost looking lost at times. I'll even go as far to say that, at times, the lad has looked half-stoned lol But when it falls into place for him, he looks fantastic. Maybe resting him a bit will do the trick. We have a busy December, so maybe he could benefit from a bit of rotation.

Needs a rest, will almost certainly get one ,despite the Christmas glut. Struggling a bit at the moment but I suspect he'll come back stronger and wiser. A spell on the bench beckons.

Not blaming the tactics or anything, but it was a bit embarrassing. We struggled to put 2 passes together and rarely ventured out of our own half. In all honesty it wasn't that different from a couple of the hidings we've taken there in the last few years, but we stuck at the task and took advantage of Liverpool's failings which is obviously a massive positive.
