Maybe it is worth keeping Tom given he keeps DCL happy. It’s like some horses need a companion to keep them happy. Think of DCL as the thoroughbred and Tom as the donkey

Sometimes it is better to give new contract just to sell, I spoke to a current prem player who said that offering new contracts to gash players happens all the time to try to get a return on them when selling.
