Then why keep the lad here, why give him a contract. If he's not good enough, cut your losses... Certainly significantly earlier than six months before he walks for nowt.
I get your point like, and I actually like Tom... but christ, every footballing decision we make is baffling, costly and wasteful.

I don’t know to be honest mate. Personally I didn’t see much of a player there, too easily marked out of games, lacks presence. I remember him getting slaughtered for hesitating to tackle in a one v one which led to one of Watford’s goals in that 5-2. It’s best he goes for the club and his sake.

Agreed. ? Just wish the decision would of been made earlier so we could of made a few quid rather than paying his wage and not contributing ... But that would of shown a modicom of sense. What was I thinking ?

That would require another club to be willing to pony up some money for him and keep a straight face

Lampard should be using him as an example to Gordon and the younger kids.. Take your foot off the gas and you'll end up like that waste of space.. 25 and heading down the leagues to anyone foolish enough to offer him a contract.

I have always felt that Davies possesses good vision and positional awareness on the offensive end. He can break the lines with a well placed pass, and finds himself in good positions to score routinely for a box-to-box midfielder.

Unfortunately, he lacks the quality to execute said well placed pass or confidently finish when in position to score.

I believe we as fan base have watched his form dip and stagnate in correspondence with his own realization of this lack of quality.

Although I agree that it is time, it will be sad to see him go as he is good professional that just lacks the top flight talent, which is the opposite of what we are accustomed to seeing from the local boys in years past.

I will always remember how delighted I was to see him "Ronaldo Chop" Yaya Toure in the build up to that goal against City back in 2017.
Have you been watching Tom davies or messi mate?

His contract is up in the summer. Let's be the club who sells rather than let's go

Come on Rangers £50 quid and a signed pic of nicola sturgeon and he's yours. We'll even foot the taxi fare

To be fair we don’t know if there was much interest in years gone by. Given his form they may of found it difficult to find a buyer. It’s not the first time, look at the likes of Bolasie, Tosun etc.
Only Everton splurge crazy wages on under 21 starlets.

If the crazy wages reported which coincide with us not being able to move players on is true, can expect similar circumstance regarding Davies.

I wish I was a 25 year old waste of space with millions in the bank.

Did he waste his talent or did he just overachieve early?

What? How should used an example to younger kids? unless you mean 'take your foot off the gas and you'll get a new contract, earning millions without actually having to play and still be part of the squad for at least the next 4-5 years.

Seems like we can't even give him away - that's how bad he is. lol 6 months on his contract left and the club would surely accept virtually any offer to take him and save on his wages. No offers, haha.

I am of the opinion it is a bit of both but also a bit of mis-management in there as well.

He probably overachieved early due to blind youthful confidence, then maybe he was not suited to the high pressure environment where he was lauded by most as a top prospect. Added to that, during those formative years, when he should have been managed into a specific position he was pushed around a bit with no aim, just seemed to be used as a bit of a stop gap, wherever he was needed. Then a new manager comes in and they do the same. There was a bit of hope as he had a few good games under Ancelotti but never came to fruition.

Seems a decent lad, really wanted him to make it here, but wasn't to be.

Agreed. I'm not sure he ever had the talent to play at that level but his development was massively hindered by a succession of different managers and no set position. I think he'll be a decent championship level player and would look good in Scotland

His contract is nearly up, nobody will give us decent money now when they can sign him for nothing in a few months.
Tom will be able to get a better deal for himself when there is no transfer fee.

In any event, he is probably not on huge money and is useful to have in the squad in case of injuries.

My money on scapegoat for everything that is wrong with Everton when TD leave is Maupay.
