Onana and Iwobi were just about still managing in that midfield, then Lampard takes of Onana and replaces with him.davies who can't cover the same ground Onana did.
Davies should have come on and added to the midfield, either go 4 at the back for it or take off McNeil and have just gray and Gordon up front.

Guess it's just one of those things were we didn't have the squad needed to see out the game.
Yet I still read that we don't need Gana or another midfielder.
Hopefully that's what we'll see if/when Garner, Gana and/or Kudus arrive.
Until then I'd be tempted to start Davies alongside Onana and Iwobi in a three. It's becoming depressing watching us concede the midfield by default every week.

As you say, it 100% reinforces the need to get Gana.
Gana, Onana, Iwobi and Doucoure as four options for two spots is very dyanmic and will give us opportunities to add intensity when subs are used in the second half.
Unfortunately, Onana to Davies doesn't do that currently.
