2022/23 Tom Davies

Been offered a twelve-month extension but apparently wants eighteen. Considering Tom Davies is low maintenance salary-wise, and the club could have limited funds to bring in new players, keeping hold of him could be a smart move.

Everton are hoping Tom Davies will pen a new contract extension that will keep him at the club until 30 June 2024. Although the player and his agent are said to want a longer deal, believed to be eighteen months, the club is confident that a compromise can be reached within the next couple of weeks.

Chairman Bill Kenwright commented: "Tom is a lovely lad. Have you seen his hair when he wears it down? Lovely when it's flopping on my big belly. And, what I always say is... well, you know... it doesn't matter that you're not that good a player, you are a local lad and part of the Everton family... and, well... that's the important thing". Mr Kenwright also wanted it to be noted that this whole story is true and not at all a complete load of nonsense made up by Cels because he's bored
.

Fixed.

If he’d played with the same hunger he did when bursting through he’d probably still be here. Koeman who loved a big name played him ahead of Schendierlin and Klaasen, then Allardyce did as well.

He was hungry in that season to establish himself in the team and was aggressive looking to create and score. Once he was crowned as the Everton golden boy by the Everton board and seemingly guaranteed a spot in the starting line up every week the. He just stopped working and declined massively.

Shame he didn’t come through under Moyes or Dyche because I’d imagine they’d have had none of that nonsense and probably would have turned him into a handy PL squad player. Now he’ll be lucky to start in the championship.
Not sure I agree with this.

It's nothing to do with working hard etc, he just isnt quite good enough. He will probably go on to have a decent enough career somewhere else but at the top level he just doesnt have enough quality.

Players don’t normally decline from when they’re 17 to mid 20s.

So either there’s been a physical injury or it’s a mentality issue because from my point of view the current version of Davies is nowhere near as good as the version that burst into the team in 16/17, 17/18.

Please tell me he's being released. He's just a brainless footballer that takes silly risks when circumstances don't require it. I'll never forget the time we were winning at Leicester with 5 minutes to go two seasons ago and he conspired to screw it up. It's a mentality problem. He's just so unfocused. I know it's a technical game, but if you don't have an awareness for risk it's game over for a midfielder. He hasn't even improved since he's aged. While he ain't alone with his head in the clouds approach - Keane is really reckless too with his decisions - this guy is among our worst players.

He's always needed a run of games to get settled and get form. He was never an impact player off the bench and sadly he was never good enough to lock down a starting place consistently.

Compared him to Garner where his attributes give you the impression that he could hold a place down in the team. You never got that with Davies.

I've always tried to back him and did feel some of the hate toward him was OTT. But I do think now at 26 he's not suited to top flight football.

He was never that good. Played well against City when they all played well and that's about it. He obviously had his purple patch early.

He was never seen as that big of a deal coming through either.

Lads, just enjoy summer.

I can't cos I know this is over....and we'll never get it again...
