Would we have won the game had we of given anyone else on the pitch the armband you gang of absolute melodramatic biffs!!!!!!

Maybe Tom has a better mentality than anyone else on that pitch
Maybe Silva see's Tom as being "Everton" and he feels that is important for the identity of the team instead of giving it underperforming "experienced" players
Maybe he wants to make a statement as in "look at the state of all you experienced underperforming pro's, im giving the armband to a 20 year old because none of you have shown the slightet degree of leadership since i have been here"
Maybe its because Davies was actually someone who would see the captaincy as an honour
Maybe, just maybe, it dosent really matter and the armband is a mythical piece of cloth that shouldn't bolster or hinder any players performance, you are there for a coin toss and that is it!

Absolute despise the lot of you mutants!!!!!!
Your a plague on society with your self entitled opinions and need to be proved right, you are the "told you so" generation and the quicker you all decide to stop supporting the club or die (whichever comes first) the better!

Not even sure @Baines' left foot could do better than this, well done Raino

Would you say the "told you so generation" are a lot worse than the weasel generation who pretend to be ITK for their own enjoyment?

You wouldn't know anything about those people would you?

Ha ha.

That's brilliant mate.

Draw the line at calling fellow Evertonians mutants though. If you'd have said acted like mutants I'd have given you 2 likes;)

Do you like Davies mate?
If he's anything like me it's more a case of he doesn't like the fact that young players are written off so early. People expect them to be superstars by the time they are 20/21 which is really unfair as that only ever happens with the very top world class players. You also have to factor in that some of the comments in here can be pretty dreadful.

I'm not a great fan of Tom personally, but I'll happily defend him and all our young players against some of the posters on here. Apart from calling our fans mutants and wishing they were dead (which I'm pretty sure was tongue in cheek), Raino's post made a lot of valid points.

Twenty is no age for a 'number 6'. Davies is going to be a sound little player.

Exactly this. Other players his age would be getting shunted around our wide or at 10 (like Barkley was) because they wouldn’t be trusted to play deep. What does it say about the lad that he has been trusted to play deep by managers some of which don’t even like playing young players, yet they’ve picked him ahead of so called specialists like Schneiderlin and Gueye to play there and even captain the team from there.

I remember the moaning aimed at Moyes because he only started Barkley away at Spurs and Arsenal at number 10 and other times he played him out wide. Now 5 years later he’s finally found a manager who will trust him to play deep (only off the bench of course).

Now we’ve come full circle and have a young player with the brain to actually play there and all the comments are about ‘wtf is he captain for’.

Some of you honestly deserve Schneiderlin and Gueye and Huddersfield at home. You really really do.

He's not great.

He's not terrible.

Sometimes he's good. Sometimes he's not so good.

Still early days - can't we just support the lad an see how he gets on?
This is way too sensible an opinion for this thread. You need to make a decision right now if hes good or bad and then stick with it through every performance.

Totally agree though

It’s more the fact that people expect them to be capable, which a lot of people in here don’t believe he is.

I get that people slating him isn’t nice, but it’s in a forum and is a persons opinion. It would be a bit different if he was in Bold St and fans were going up to him telling him how they feel.

You need to define capable. I would argue that he is capable of playing in the premiership and holding his own in a lot of games. I do not expect him to be totally bossing the midfield in most of those games or to come out on top against top drawer International class midfielders who are a lot older and more experienced than Tom.

And yes it is a forum. So that also entitles people like myself and Raino to support Tom or any other player if they feel they're taking unfair criticism.,

Social media has alot to answer for

Well said. Some people seem to expect that young players simply roll off the production line already equipped with a world of experience ,and there to be no mistakes and growing pains. Simply ridiculous.

Capable is being able to pass a ball to a player in the same colour shirt, to tackle the opposition and to start attacking moves, all of which he doesn’t do enough of consistently.

I agree mate, differing opinions are what keep the forum going.
