I doubt he will feature in the 1st team once Silva gets his signings fit and ready. Until then he and a few others will get selected. We just have to live with it. Transition from last season to what we want to be will take a long time. Some players, old and young will fall by the wayside.

Yeah it’s becoming difficult to see him being or becoming anything other than a half decent player. Suspect a career in the championship beckons, not that that’s a bad thing at all.

Championship player and that'll be proven correct within two seasons imo.

Every squad has to have players like Tom , he's still a young lad learning his trade and willing to fill in any position at the drop of a hat.
When Schneiderlin is fit he'll be back on the bench. He'll be even further down the pecking order when Andre Gomes starts strutting his stuff.
Tom's fine to have around the squad.

What happened?

He started to believe his own hype and instead of progressing naturally he was booted into a position far beyond his current ability.

He shouldn't be starting for us but the failed recruitment under Koeman has left us weak in that area of the pitch. Ideally, he'd be on loan at a Championship club and getting game time and confidence at that level.

Really needs to gain some athleticism, he looks heavy when he's running and a few times today he looked like he was running in treacle when tracking back. Still think the lad has big potential but the last thing you want to be as a box to box midfielder is slow.
