Pienaar's declining role in recent years suggests so.

Cleverley in no way should be a replacement for Pienaar or Osman, he's not even a similar type of player. Only idiots like Hodgson and probably Martinez would play him as a number 10 or on the wing. The player I'm hoping he'll replace is Barry but knowing Roberto he'll find someway to fit Cleverley Barry Besic and McCarthy into one team.

Think he'll prove useful. Not the best by any stretch, but a very experienced player (especially at 25) and can play anywhere in midfield. Nothing wrong with this signing. I'm really starting to wonder what some fans expect from us? Spending millions in very position? Maybe it's because I haven't seen the glory years, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with this signing IMO.
