BTW, Chelsea are waiting like snides in the wings for these two drop the ball.

I would not rule them out at all.

I was going to bet on them the other day when they were 33/1. Ridiculous odds.

Only reason I never was because I thought the officials would hand it to Liverpool.

Never seen the game, is it true Chelsea kicked the ball out because Ba was injured and the [Poor language removed] never gave them the ball back?

Delighted with the turnaround today obviously but I think there is too much Jose-worshipping as a result of the win today. I think this post on the Guardian sums it up well:

I personally think putting almost your whole team in the final third is not a masterclass in defending. There's a few Milan defenses from the late 80s onwards that would look down their noses at that. Its just percentage football, sit in the final third and move over and back keeping the space in between and behind to a minimum. It's not worthy of being called a tactic IMO, it's the same thing a non league team would do coming to Everton in the cup.

Not knocking the man as a winner, because he clearly is, and is entitled to do it however he feels, and I am over the moon that there is now a chance that the unthinkable might not happen, butttt it just bugs me he gets praise for what is such a basic thing, and IMO a waste of a bunch of very talented footballers. Better management would be coaching a talented team to be able to come out attack and control a game against a title rival.

But I know all that stuff can depend on if you see the sport as just a results business. I personally don't.

Hope Atleti come through at Stamford Bridge!
thats nonsense mate, he is the first manager that has had a proper look at that liverpool side and know that if you dent them space behind to counter attack they really are not all that, he worked them out and has set the blueprint, that should have been set by some very well paid managers, including our own, long before this game

I have a plan, is Bobby on Twitter
The redsh*te have been destroying teams who play a high line, best attacking force in the league, Jose totally made them look average, brilliant plan, played out to the letter by his team.

And don't forget that was a weakened team, I'd just like Brenda once to be gracious in defeat but I won't hold my breath.
Was very worried that too many changes with all the injuries and the CL to play might have weakened Chelsea too much. But Mourinho had every one of his player doing exactly what they needed to, I'll give him that. Fugly stuff but until marks are awarded for style, why not.

If we play Barry, accidently on purpose, tw@t City all over 4-1, then the F.A says naughty, you played Barry, the points go to City, this is the way to go don't you think?

Hope Bobby reads this.

nono, im not just talking about this game.

Im talking about this general tactic, that gets praised after games like this.

Liverpool this season are not the greatest team in the world ever, it shouldnt need defensive tactics to that level if you are a good team yourselves. I don't personally agree with it, and don't think its worthy of being called a tactic let alone being called a masterclass.

On this team in particular, if your only answer to them is to sit extremely deep to the level of, as I said, a non-league team playing at Goodison then I think you are not doing anything exceptional as a coach and your players become functional parts of a simple system and not much more.

To put it simply, I think putting 9 and sometimes 10 in the last third basically makes total common sense and it should always make it difficult to score whatever level your team is at because simply there is no space and if one defender doesnt get a foot in or a block another is always there. I don't think it is a masterclass, or takes great coaching to take a billion-pound team and use this "tactic" to win games.

I absolutely loved it today though!

Best fans in the world really done their bit in singing outside Chelsea's hotel didn't they? The gang of melts.

Hahaha Chelsea were prob in another hotel the try hard whoppers

Still waiting for the 10 or so Kopites who have been bouncing around on here for weeks to surface

Don't mind them on here if there sound but don't just pipe up when everthings smelling of roses

I expect they will be here in the 100s when we get a result on Sat
