Don't think it was a penalty either, Tomkins arm was natural movement of someone running and the ball was played at short distance onto the arm. But when the arm does move towards the ball in that motion its so easy to give it.

agree, but it stopped a goalscoring opportunity. imo, that's just the way thing goes and it's no more than unlucky for the attacking team, just like it's unlucky for a ricochet off the ref or a beach ball. it is harsh to punish someone on something that's unfortunate, but the same happens if you accidentally clip someone's ankles when you're chasing them so, well it's all opinion i suppose.
