the moment he realised bullets were in the post

Former England striker Michael Owen
Man City 0-1 Chelsea
"Manchester City should be unbeatable. They are the best team in the league by a mile but I am afraid you can't play at the top level playing 4-4-2.

"You can swat away 95% of teams playing it as most teams are average but what happens when Chelsea or Munich come to town?"

who gave this muppet a job? they have great attacking players, but they are far far far from a supposedly unbeatable team, nobody is unbeatable anyway - but when you compare bayern's squad to city with world class talent not making the bench, that's a team that has the hallmark of unbeatable. where's he getting this best team in the league by a mile from? they're smashing records yet are still second, there's also the fact chelsea have done the double over them!!

with regards to 4-4-2, i struggle to see his point. They smashed arsenal for 6, spurs for 6 and 5, beat united 4-1. easily brushed us and liverpool aside and won at the alianz as well as scoring a lot of goals in europe's elite competition.

yet they lose one game and this utter muppet thinks it's down to their formation? jesus christ.

Just listening to the Guardian's football weekly podcast. Had to laugh at James Richardson talking about Mourinho.

He said that after criticizing West Ham for defending and City for spending money he'll be looking for someone to criticize for being Portuguese. Brilliant.

Winning a treble with that Inter side which includes the CL and beating a Barca side that were the best in Europe is the better feat imo

That inter side was fantastic. Why is history suddenly being rewritten? They had dominated italian football for years!

He's a top manager but to suggest he 'mind thingied' guardiola because he won a copa Del Rey and a league with the biggest and most expensive club in the world is hilarious. Unless u all think vilanova did the same to him?

Hang on, I've not been reading the past 2-3 pages

Are people questioning Mourinho's managerial record?

He's won a fair bit of silver like

Yes, he's spent a lot of money, but that's what you have to do these days. Either spend big or have a really good bunch of players in the youth ranks all come up at once. That's the only two ways you can be successful in football during the modern age

The days of a team with average finance being led to the title by exceptional managment are long gone.

Does anyone believe the rumours that Man u snubbed Jose, Jose seems to love Chelsea, why would he have chosen Man u over Cheslea?

I did think he'd go to United if he had been offered it.

No idea if he actually was or not though.

If United went for Moyes over Mourinho, then that really is their problem.

I spoke to United fans at the time who said they didn't like Jose's style of play

I bet they'd kill for that style right about now if it led to them being back in title contention

Moyes is the same type of manager, would win ugly rather then go out and play attractive football. Points before beauty is also Moyes format.

I think Jose is very shrewd and for my money, I reckon he took a look at the Man Utd squad and realised that Fergie left a lame duck. Swerved it to protect his reputation.

He has always delivered silver everywhere he has been. Maybe he didn't want to break that streak.
