Cuase in real time it didn't look like a goal?
Of course BT just went overboard as i'm sure loads of people will but unless you see that at the right specific angle its gonna look like a goal because the ball was in the net.
"Only captain Simon Rofles thinks it’s a real goal" and with no real complaint from the Hoffenhiem players backs up that this is far from a total cock up from an inept referee, but a perfectly understandable real time mistake.
If the ball rolled towards the corner flag it wouldn't have been given, But what else do you do if the ball hits the side of the net and ends up in the goal? Even if you thought you saw it go wide you can't be sure so if you do disalow it and it actually was legit you get criticised.
Of course after he saw the hole it would have made a phantom goal more likely but by that stage i guess its kind of hard to know what decision to make.
Game should be replayed and that should be that.
