Not only this qualification. We always **** up in easy groups. Since the playoffs were introduced we've needed them. 2010, 2012 and now 2014. But then we easily defeat Bosnia in the playoffs, and give us a group with Germany and Holland and we'll qualify. It's just frustrating.

So long as you get there I suppose

Doesn't how so long as you do it

Problems would only arise if Portugal didn't make it at all

Germany, Italy etc don't put as much importance on it

It's probably why they've won the actual cup so much

Maybe England put so much importance to qualifying that we trick ourselves into thinking qualifying is an acheivement and then we take the foot off the gas in the actual tournament?
