I thought Simms could maybe have had a couple more starts last season to prove himself in "easier" games rather than the thankless task he had at Anfield and Old Trafford.

But if the manager preferred sticking Gray up front to him then realistically Kev was right to sell, I didn't disagree with the decision or the fee at the time so can't really disagree now. Glad it's going well for the lad though.

It is, but Southampton done back to back promotions and then stayed up so it is doable.

Maybe with all the FFP stuff they’ve been hit with, they’ve thought what’s the point ?

The FFP stuff makes promotion all the more important. Yes, they might start on negative points, but if they get bogged down in the Championship for another year with the wage bill they have then the financial and FFP problems could really spiral.
