so yellows can be rescinded on field. so in the box = genuine attempt to win the ball, 3 inches before the line not a genuine attempt.

I think it the usual crap commentators not understanding the rules, I think there is a double jeopardy rule if a pen is given,. you dont get sent off and therefore punished twice.

This was a FK outside the box so no double jeopardy so it's a red card for denial of a goal scoring opportunity

It's to avoid a double punishment for an unfortunate challenge like that. Its not malicious, its not serious, its really just a tangle of legs.

But he tripped a player through on goal so its denial of a scoring opportunity so has to be a red since its not a penalty.
