It had got to the point where is was unbearable. I'm glad the FAI have acted before it got any worse if that was even possible.
I feel sorry for any Irish fans tbh, i saw something the other day after the Denmark game which said a number of the Denmark players were quite surprised at how negative Ireland had been during the game and their lack of desire to leave their own half. When the oppostion is telling you how bad you are like that you know there is an issue.

Jim White saying something about the manager from Dundalk? no idea who he is mind.

Stephen Kenny. He has done an excellent job at club level in the Republics top league, even getting Dundalk to the Europa League group stages. Had a spell in Scotland with Dunfermline.

Would certainly be the grassroots but unglamourous appointment. They should give him a go from such a low base the team is at currently. It depends what the FAI want and in Kenny's case, he would probably have to convince them that he would have enough gravitas with the players. He would need a more established No.2 with him I think but it would be a positive appointment.

Half the squad would have played under him or against him. Gravitas wouldn't be an issue. The only thing I'd be concerned about his that he works really closely with players, he improves nearly every player he works with but that takes time to achieve. He's not gonna get much time with players as an international manager.

He also demands that his team's keep possession of the ball, that's a cultural shift that will take some bridging with this squad.

I bet Moyes has thrown his CV in.

TBF he'd be ideal for the RoI: they love a bit of Jack Charlton hoofball.
They don't have any strikers though, by all accounts they need someone who is going to bring the youth through, and also spend some time looking for another crop of dual nationalities.
