I was thinking he can play advantage and still give the red. The lad still cheated, same as if it studs someone in the face, you still get the red no matter if play continues.

Well that's what I was thinking. Scratching my head about it for sure. If he'd kicked someone in the head and the ref had played advantage he'd still be off, wouldn't he?

Should've disallowed the goal, sent the defender off and given a penalty, surely?
