watched it from the 30th min,1st thing i see is a bad back pass from ashley williams that Suarez should have scored from,then 2mins later he could have conceeded a pen when he held Suarez who just stoped when if he went down i am sure it would be a pen,or even carried on for the shot

you could even blame him for the goal there as he was outpaced easily,not getting back to mark the scorer

I reckon Messi and Aguero are sat there watching this thinking an early international retirement might not be the worst idea.

Defence non existent.

This performance is a good illustration as to why it’s nonsense to base the ability of a player based on international success. Messi has zero chance with this team (but for him they wouldn’t be at the World Cup). 2010 was arguably the worst dereliction of duty by a governing body in football history when the Argentine FA appointed a clown (Maradona) to manage them in a World Cup. They essentially forfeited any chance. The next World Cup, 2014, Higuain decided he was going to miss everything.

Maradona played in a team that had world class defenders (Passarella couldn’t get in the team). He had two forwards in Valdano and Burrachaga converting the chances. Maradona was awesome in that World Cup, but he could never have lifted the trophy without his teammates. He plays in any of Messi’s teams he has no chance.

Can never write off a team with Messi. But if he won a world cup with that shambolic back 4, then he would be confirmed as the undisputed GOAT.
