I think he has a role for the next couple of years as an out and out number 9 but not much else.

He remains superb in the air which is now his greatest asset. His greed in shooting for goal means his chance conversion ratio is ordinary but he is still capable of scoring from anywhere in or near the box.

However the creative part of his game is largely gone. The step-overs have largely disappeared but have been replaced by the rather silly little dance he does over the ball- allowing defenders take up position - before he lays off the ball.

The Ronaldo we will see in future will simply be an older version of numerous big strong goal hungry 9s. In short it is over for him as a Ballon d'Or contender or anything close to it. I'd be very surprised if he is in the final 3 this year and he will never again be in the 3 after that.

Correct. He'll be 31 in February. We can't expect him to be the player he was at his peak. So a new role may well be the way to go.

Benitez is barking up he wrong tree if he supposes he can accommodate Ronaldo and Bale with bale in the middle. Utter stupidity.

On the edge of the area lurking for chances is the only way to play Ronaldo now that his pace and trick have gone.

Is Bale as destructive in that goal hunting role? No.

Benzema out Bale on the wing, someone else to lash balls in or over to Ronaldo with Ronaldo goal hatching in or near the area. Football is not rocket science and does not need to be.

You lose at home 4-0 in the El Clasico. Says it all really.
 
.....so Crystal Palace beat the Pool at Anfield and we stuff Sunderland at home. The Pool them go to champions elect Manchester City and play them off the park. On the back of those results, Sunderlands visit to Palace is seemingly a foregone conclusion. It's truly a funny old game and the reason why predictor threads are so pointless.

Yes, listen to Michael Owen for nothing :) It's supposed to entice you in to subscribing to BT. It doesn't work but you can watch the match for nowt.
