They justify it because they are a private company who can employ who they want in any role they want.

They used to employ a former Everton player as main commentator on pretty much every game for way longer than any ex liverpool/ Arsenal/Man U/Sunderland whoever, including many merseyside derbies i'm sure.[/QUOTE]

Well yeah that's the answer but I'm sure many would enjoy the match a lot more if they just swapped the commentators and pundits around. Quinn could have done Liverpool vs Southampton. Neville could have done this match.

Andy Gray being employed was when they mostly used him and Tyler as the main commentary team. These days they swap it more

Why we didn't have such luck in the derbies :(

Home team bias shall apply in the following circumstances:

1. Liverpool - under all circumstances (home and away, excepting when they have a two goal lead when referees are free to apply the laws in a more liberal fashion).
2. Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd (except when playing Liverpool)
3. Chelsea - excepting when Mourinho has had his knuckles rapped by the FA
4. Promoted sides must earn the right to referees' favours. If they can survive, pluckily, their first season in the PL - usually involving a dramatic 6 wins in final 8 or so games - they have earned the right to a bit of help.
