Stubbs taking Hibs to the final yesterday looks like they'll be favourites to lift the trophy...Stubbs seems destined for the Celtic job?

he would be an idiot to go there, just like Warburton would be an idiot to hang around Ibrox after the summer (assuming that he takes them up)

I have just started a thread on Huddleboard to see which of Moyes or Stubbs would be preferable to Celtic fans - I have also stressed that there would of course be other candidates.

Of course, all of this is posited on the basis of Meila leaving - I don't see him leaving before the summer and it would be unusual to sack a (likely) league championship winning manager.

He;d see it as a stepping stone to the PL. It'd be a good move. It's a one horse race atm, and even if Rangers go up they'll take years to compete with Celtic again, so he'd be guaranteed trophies and CL qualifiers and EL footy at least.

Tbf, I dont think Stubbs would want to right now. He'll want to get Hibs a trophy and promotion. If he does then he's a prime candidate for Celtic Park, I'd imagine.

Its that lack of competition that means they bottle European football of both kinds and get results like this, though; and as you point out its a one horse race so the only people who will get noticed in Scotland as managers are those who impress whilst working against that (just look at what jobs got offered to Neil Lennon and Alex Neil last season). The job should really only of be of interest to superannuated whoppers (KKK) and those discarded from elsewhere (Moist) who have connections with that mob.

I'm expecting a Bournemouth, United or Chelsea away in the cup.

If it's Man United or Bournemouth, it'll go to a replay just so we get to play each other 3 times in a month.

One early reply suggests Michael O'Neill - that would be very interesting given what he has done with norn iron.

As a Rovers fan, he was a big loss to us after winning two League Championships in a row after a gap of 16 years - maybe we should get him at Everton !! :p
