It's quite unlikely we'd beat them in a final, due to the mental edge they'll have built up through years and years of barely ever losing to us.

Wouldn't beating City over a two-legged semi and then them in a final be something else though? It'd be so ace it'd make all the waiting for a trophy seem almost worthwhile. It's a possibility at least. I'd rather that than be out already.

I'm sure I'll regret saying that if we get to the final and lose in typically heartbreaking fashion, knowing City probably would have beaten them.

Final is the 28th Feb, it's due to be a derby day anyway so if we make it, it'll just be played at a neutral venue (Wembley) instead of their pit and with a trophy on the line instead of league points. The league game would be rescheduled for a midweek in March or April most likely
Feck it then, lets just get it over with and beat them for the first time in...Im not even sure how long. Half a decade?

Here's the thing.......and I really hate myself for saying this, guys.

Anyone who ever takes the trouble to read my musings round these parts know that I am always upbeat and optimistic about our chances in any game.

But if we go through tomorrow night I will not even be able to look forward to a Cup Final with great excitement and pleasurable contemplation.

It will just be a month of dread.

Then if we do lose, you are looking at the ugly buggers everywhere you go afterwards.

No, thus is just a nightmare.

This has become the worst 48 and change hours of the season and even a win tomorrow night will not lessen the feeling of disappointment of a season which once held such great promise falling apart.

Sod it.....I am having a :pint2:

The only shots they had on target were the pens, and one of them hit the post!
A former player gave the their win
You could have wrote the script mind you did any one mention Stokes goal was offside!lol

Two seasons ago we wanted city to beat us at home, even though it wrecked our top 4 hopes, just so they wouldn't win the league. Now we want to get beat by city tomorrow just so they don't beat us in the final. haha. Its boss being an Evertonian though lol

You remember that we finished 7 points behind 4th place though right?

Beating city would have just narrowed that to 4 points.

On tonight's evidence we'd have just as much chance at Wembley against either of them (i.e NIL!)

Strangely, we've actually taken more league points from the last three games v Liverpool than Stoke.

Either way there's a mental block and Stoke are mustard at both ends, so I don't really know what yer all upset about.
