....but neither of those were as good. Lineker and Greaves were out and out goal scorers, Charlton wasn't so don't compare the ratio compare the talent. Charlton was a truly top player and deserves all the accolades he gets.

But, both Lineker and Greaves were denied the chance to continue their scoring feats for England and that was wrong, totally wrong. JG was denied the chance to play in the 66 World Cup and Lineker getting dropped from the ?England team when he was was nothing short of criminal.

Charlton was a very good player I'll agree, but far from the deity he is/was made out to be. He benefits from having had a long career.

He did alright...certainly did more than Johnson's done in a long, long time.

...we'll have to agree to disagree. JG wasn't 'denied the chance to play in the '66 final', he wasn't selected and England won the game. Lineker and Greaves were proper goalscorers and could well have been England's top scorer but Charlton was much more than that. Don't confuse top scorer with top player, Charlton is England's top scorer despite not being an out an out CF.
