We did offer Stubbs a contract though, and his cancer was years before that.

Was only a one year deal because he'd had the cancer though.....Then came back for two years after going to s'land......

Not quite the same as gutierrez, but we can hardly call the barcodes on it imo.

The truth is a bit more complicated, but it really wasnt as bad as jibbing him off immediately after he had recovered and after he had scored a goal to keep them up. As you say we did have him back afterwards, and did offer him a new deal anyway.

Hamburg facing relegation here. Always puzzled me how awful they've been in recent seasons. Surely they're up there with Dortmund fighting it out for the 2nd biggest club in Germany?

They're in a pretty similar position to us, really. Won a ton of things before money came pouring in to the sport and now face an uphill battle to reclaim their former place.

I lived in Luebeck for a time, so I do actually know a good number of HSV supporters. They even have that same sort of bitterness and sense of superiority about them that we do.
