Just said on 5 Live that no Welsh player has ever won 100 caps. And Bale could be the first. When you think of some players who did play for ages, I found that amazing really. Even though they havnt qualified for nowt for ages, they still play the same number of quali games/friendlies as everyone else.

Like Nev, Rush, Flynn, etc. Not one got to 100.

For a player to get over 100 caps, you pretty much have to play tournaments in addition to the friendlies and qualifying campaigns.

Maybe thats the reason.
