Chelsea have had two shots on target all game, three in total and Mourinho swaps a striker for a CB with a few minutes to go.

Moyes would have be slaughtered in similar circumstances at home, even against City.

mourinho's brilliant though, i didn't watch the game, but if he thought chelsea needed to win that game, he would have sent his team to do just that. he hardly ever loses those big games, he's quite content with 1 point (especially away) and picking up the odd win away.

city needed the 3 so much more than chelsea did, why risk trying to win it for a loss, 8 point lead over a 2 point lead, hardly worth it given the games they've already played.

All of that makes a lot of pragmatic sense, especially since they had a tough midweek game and a couple of key injries/suspensions. But what is considered sensible game management by Mourinho was viewed as negative/defensive football by Moyes in similar games at Everton/Man Utd.

The difference is probably in the "if he thought Chelseas needed to win that game, he would have sent his team to do just that" because Moyes didn't manage as well under those circumstances. But should that affect the perception of these types of "must not lose" games?

Have noticed a similar effect with LVG and Moyes, the former can get away with things that Moyes would have got much worse press for if he had done the same.

the difference is that mourinho wins a hell of a lot of trophies, including league titles. moyes played that way in terrible games away and relegation fodder some of the time etc. mourinho takes 2 or 4 points off title challengers and beats most of the rest.

agree with LVG and moyes comparisons though, moyes wouldn't have been the failure he is with this current squad - would he have been able to attract those names though? who knows.

Borussia Dortmund now bottom of the Bundersliga. On their way to getting relegated for the first time in 39 years.

Remember when everyone thought Jurgen Klopp was the next big managerial thing?

Yea won championships and took a team to a C-league final with a nothing budget. He's a good manager.

....trying to walk the ball in, Arsenal have barely come to of 2nd gear. If Villa pull level the Gunners might find it difficult to step the pace up. Such a difference between top and bottom half clubs this season. 36 points could be safety.
Just hope they keep a a gap between them and the r/s.
