Why do City need to "win big" against Roma?

Surely if they win they'll be on five points same as Roma, with a better goal difference and better head-to-head record v Roma too? Why do they need to, according to ITV commentator, "win big"?

Edit: Think I get it. CSKA also finish on five and they beat City away and drew to City in Manchester. Wait. If it firstly comes down to head to head and CSKA will have a better H2H record v City, how can City qualify?
