They spent big and spent well then got an excellent manager in. That period under Koeman and Allardyce etc signing Bolasie, Sigurdsson, Walcott, Tosun, Schneiderlin and Klaassen set us back years.

No teams dropping down and the coefficient for the top leagues have really lowered the quality of the Europa and Conference Leagues. Any English club should be minimum walking to the semis if not winning it outright.

Not good for football how one league is so much stronger than the rest. Who would have thought there would be a time when players are choosing bournemouth and brentford over the likes of ac milan and sevilla.

Aston Villa spent to accumulate; Everton spent to replace. Villa used their money to stack bricks on top of an already solid house, whereas Everton were using their money to patch up holes in the walls after their best assets were stripped away.

Villa are also spending as much as 40% more than we do on wages. They have more quality.
