Today’s Football 25/26 Season

That narrow City win shows you that they are under the cosh. If we want Europe, we've got to stop writing off such games. We need to make points up - that is the only game left where we won't be favourites (we are ahead of all of the others in the table).

The BBC can now fit in another fuggin farming/countryside programme.

Garbage licence thieves
article isn't subtle, got to find savings, got to justify the licence increase, so the football interview has been invented (basically a pod cast spin off) and they're extending final score by half an hour.

You know who I blame? clarkson. That berk singlehandedly sunk topgear, the one show the bbc sold around the world, cheap and easy to make, huge audience, plenty of motoring stuff to keep it fresh*. And the overtly tory buffoon botched the lot. Now the other two twits* have found similarish pastures new and he's got the game show gig. I thought I hated tarrant, I was wrong.

grandstand went. totp had to go. focus is on it's death bed. I don't think I can hack any more repeats of 'dads army' and 'last of the summer wine'.

what a mess.

Sad news about Focus ending, unsurprisingly though instead of looking at the real issue as to why it’s going, the manly men are blaming Alex Scott for it going because how dare a woman of colour, who’s LGBTQ, who’s actually played the game professionally (unlike the cavemen complaining) and has a media degree present a show about the game

Football Focus, like On the Ball, was essential TV about 40 years ago. I'm amazed it's still being broadcast. In a world where there were only a few channels, seeing clips of midweek games or archive clips from the past to preview a forthcoming fixture was a huge novelty. Nowadays you can watch full matches of numerous matches over the years on YouTube, let alone highlights, goals, etc.

Time and technology, mainly, moves on. When technology changed how music was listened to and how charts were compiled, Top of the Pops was finished. In truth, it had been dieing a slow death as some of those BBC 4 repeats prove. But Football Focus was an anomaly. I can't see why anbody with an Internet connection would watch it.

It's not the 70s. I'm sure that you'll find something to watch on the other 1000 channels that are available.

Shame, but its been terrible for a while.

Quite liked Dan Walker, Manish but just couldn't warm to Alex Scott. Something about it felt very forced.

Shame, but sadly with the amount of TV games, whos really watching it?
Gentle Saturday midday warm up tv. When they were rounding up the midweek stuff and analysing anything of note it was alright as a pre 3pm KO aperitif. She's been dealt a bad deal, wasn't media trained with a lifetime legacy in tv presenting but is knowledgeable and experienced enough to bridge that gap. There's a few choice characters around that are a bit loud, Alex isn't one of em. Ladies game needs the profile and momentum it's increasing, so more power to the former pro's keeping that up and kids out of mcdonalds etc.
Tried to catch it if anything about us was involved. I find the top ten stuff with lineker shearer and richards all sat about in chesterfields waffling on a lot more banal.

I've been following women's football for a long time, almost as long as I have Barça men's team and you can't help but be drawn to certain personalities and voices in the women's game and Alex Scott is one of my favorite. I am a big fan of her and wish I could hear her either calling Liga F matches or her punditry on the game in general

I think its true that YT and all the streaming content that is available makes a BBC with their overproduced content is nowhere near authentic enough for most fans these days. I know myself I prefer podcasts & YT channels for punditry or review of matches. So that will be hard to dislodge on TV anymore. I'd listen to Scott all day compared to a clown like Micah else too many pundits have ingrained biases and professional guardrails to be honest or balanced. Streamers can be guilty of this too but so many are quite good

I know she has a podcast but its too geared to the English game for me even with her FIFA role but I've seen her a guest on DAZN and she really stands out, bright and authentic with her heart on her sleeve - big fan

I tend to find its often an afterthought now.

There is football of some capacity on, so if I am sitting down itll be the BT Game or a Championship game.

Not that I ever want to agree with costcutting at the Beeb, but theres so much media put there now, its easy to miss it.

Feel theyre putting real emphasis on the Kelly Somers program, perhaps they could have let Alex Scott do that, and give FF some substance, because I dont mind that at all when it comes on after Match of the Day on a Sunday morning.
