Today’s Football 25/26 Season

I wouldn't be quite as positive. That tie was there for the taking...but they left Madrid in it. On the face of it a good result, but a really clinical side would have ended it cleanly tonight and taken the two goal start. In the old days of the away goals rule, Bayern would have a foot in the semis. I think the second leg is still well up for grabs.
I mean I just said "not bad", not that it was some amazing result, but at the same time you're overly negative here. They played well, got a good result - it wasn't 10:0 but a win is a win, they have to keep the momentum and finish the job at home.

Plus, even thumpings have proven to not be a guaranteed passthrough to the round after.

Yeah, but you're tagging me from weeks ago... Your "not bad" isn't some neutral description of fact. ;)

Bayern will happily take the 2-1. I still wouldn't be sure it'd be enough. I'd be fairly sure they still won't be in the final - but would be pleased to be proven wrong. And then you can tell me I was. :)

Tagged our interaction from ages ago just for context mate, I did indeed mean it in the sense that it was not bad in their first real test, not that they've walked the tournament or anything.

There's been years where 3-4:0 wasn't enough, and it's not like they stopped trying, sometimes it doesn't go entirely your way - likewise the goal could've been a save. As long as they don't shoot themselves in the foot it should be an easy enough game (you'd think). Also I just want German teams to win things, especially against the farcical Real/Barca/RS and petroteams.

I hear you. I too see the German clubs as "the good guys" - Bayern included. They've built their advantage organically and their club culture is driven by their great former players. It's no exaggeration to say that Bayern, built largely by Uli Hoeneß, Franz Beckenbauer, and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, are what Manchester United would be if they had been run by Bobby Charlton, Denis Law, and George Best - and not the Glazers and Sir Jim'll Tax Dodge. They are still very much a family club. That should be celebrated.
