It's strange because of the perceived duty of care.I don't see where else they could take it. Think this is like the 3rd or 4th attempt going down different avenues.

If I buy a new whatever* from amazon and it doesn't arrive, I have legal recourse to recover the fee I paid for the item.
This was a human being, on a contract to provide services of a sporting nature.
At what point is the transfer completed? On the pitch in the jersey at cardiff? at the halfway point of the journey? when the physical is passed?
Who dreamed up a private small plane piloted by Al from down the 'dog n duck'? Who insured the plane, the flight, and its contents?
What responsibility did the player have for his own safety when he stepped into this small plane? Was his agent doing the chatting up up and into the air?
£104M is a lot of money for reputational damage including the £15M player fee, I wonder if a side might sign a player in future for huge money and something similarly tragic occur and the club decides to fold and leave the debt outstanding than suffer something similar to how this has panned out.
Nantes getting off scot free seems a little lenient. All the burden laid at the feet of Cardiff when they never even set eyes on the product (the man) on british soil seems unduly harsh.
Fascinated to know how any/all the insurers wheedled out of legal responsibility.
Depends on the agreement. The player cannot have been between two insurance coverages on the small plane. Someone somewhere is liable. He never made it to uk airspace, let alone touched down in Wales.…you actually think Cardiff should get compensation here from Nantes???

"Excuse me Mr Nymzee, Mercedes here, thank you for your purchase of our new S-class, but unfortunately for you the car has been stolen in transit, thanks for the money though. Cheerio."
Thanks for that. The usual combative, confrontational, and curmudgeonly response I've come to expect. Kudos. It has absolutely nothing to do with Nantes and if you think they owe Cardiff any money over the players death you’re a nob.

So instead of just saying “I haven’t read up on the case, my bad, Nantes are innocent in this, Cardiff are horrid” you are… having a go at me. Kudos.
I turn up on here exclusively for this. I love it.It has absolutely nothing to do with Nantes and if you think they owe Cardiff any money over the players death you’re a nob.

I have repeatedly mentioned the insurance coverage. At no point have I suggested Nantes owe anyone. The structure of the deal and the transportation of the asset are unreadaboutable. At least to regular folk like you and I.But you are if you think Nantes owe Cardiff money. Like literally no one else will be on your side here.

If you have any specific insight, who was it that found Biggles from down the local and thought he'd be the prime candidate to get the marquee season saving signing to Cardiff double lively?
