It's probably obvious that I'm, at best, an agnostic. I know right from wrong, I don't need to be preached it by some dillusional person who thinks there is a god.

Why would you want to be excluded from the squad? It was a 30 second biscuit . No one's preaching to anyone. All the players are happy for their team mates to have a drink and biscuit. Literally makes no difference to anyone. But great to have something to take offence or moan about i guess.

Keep religion out of football. Wait until half time for [insert one's own deity's/prophet's] sake! What's next, prayer mats, samurai swords and confessional boxes on the halfway line for blatant cheating, missing of open goals and bad thoughts towards opposing players, referees and VAR?

No mate, those things would all be silly. Allowing players who would be observing religious fasting irrespective of what walk of life they were participating in, to take on board vital hydration and nutrients just seems like basic human kindness, though, and is an inconvenience so minor as to be vanishing for those in attendance. It also raises awareness of Ramadan, too, which should in turn increase tolerance of other religions which is what we all want, isn’t it? ISN’T IT?
