Just saw it again. Summerville kicks it onto the defenders foot so it isnt a deliberate play from the defender so correct to award the offside

the ball ricochets off the defender with no real control then the offside striker is penalised, because the phase of play from the teammate’s pass is still considered active.

If the defender deliberately plays the ball (e.g. attempts a tackle, interception, or clearance and makes contact with control/intent), the striker is not offside, even if the ball goes straight to them.


Hmm, it looks more like the 2nd thing to me after watching the replay.
