There’s a line between rating him and thinking he’s the best player in the world. I think he’s a good solid midfielder.

Rodri is very much not City’s best player. He’s the most important because Pep signed Kalvin Phillips to be his backup (and now he just doesn’t have one I guess?) so his loss leaves a tough hole in the team. This also happened with Fernandinho for awhile and people acted like he was some spectacular player when I’d describe him the exact same as Rodri. Personally that isn’t a point in his favor for me.

Anyway if it’s about team success then sure give it to Rodri. I just thought they already gave out trophies for the team that wins the competition.

Kane has a much stronger case than Rodri. I’d probably have him third to fifth or so.

Kane scored more league goals, more CL goals, and more goals in total last season than Haaland.

Rice, Fernandez, Kovacic, Frenkie De Jong, Tchouameni. Idk how many do you want me to name? He’s in a big class of guys that would all fit into the teams he plays in just as well as he does.

Because I’ve watched Kylian Mbappe play football and he’s the best player on Earth now that Messi is semi-retired.

Haaland and Kane is close, frankly the way Kane plays for England turns me off of him. He’s more damaging than helpful at times because of his desire to try and take games over and not simply do the job that he’s excellent at.

It’s an opinion on two players who are very similar in quality. But more to the point at a level far exceeding the player who won the award.

As a thought exercise who would have the biggest impact on Everton from 1 to 5: Haaland, Kane, Mbappe, Vinicius and Rodri. For me 1 to 4 can maybe be argued but Rodri is an obvious 5.
