Europa league papered over massive cracks. They were lucky to beat frankfurt in the 2nd league and had 1 shot in the final. If you can even call it a shot.

Yeah, he did an excellent job with Atalanta. So did Ranieri for Roma..big shoes to fill on both sides.

Might be good for us too as he has a reputation for being quite spiky with players. If he falls out with anyone we could get a cheap deal.

He was lucky to still have the job by now. In the end, his stubbornness of keeping his style cost him the job. Even with a really bad injury crisis, he should get that squad top half at least.

It makes sense to a degree.
The CL money is away to be spent .
If the form continued at the start of the season the fans would be baying for him sacked.
It's not a surprise imo.
He'll walk away with a good pay off and good will from spuds fans.
