VAR can't prove whether it's onside or offside, so they've gone with the on field decision. It wasn't even the scorer they've deemed offside, either.

Just thinking out loud here but I've always thought you cannot be offside from a backwards pass.

I mean you’re talking about technology that deemed Demarai Gray offside by a toenail last night and wasn’t able to be used at Hillsborough earlier which saw Wednesday benefit from a clear offside
