Barcelona are like a posh couple who got a glimpse of the way the rest of the world lives (Europa League) and now they'll do whatever it takes to not go back there
They pretty much have to. If you stop and think about it for a minute, they've sold the club's identity down the river. The only thing they have left going for them is the perennial deep Champions League runs. If they lose that, they quit being a destination and the whole thing collapses on itself.
All they can do is bank on Xavi's ability to extract results from less/younger talent than their nearest competitors are deploying for long enough to weather the storm. It's not a bad bet - I can't think of anyone better suited to do it there - but if it fails then they're done.
This is the big one for me.
The should me it as it as transparent as possible, so the fans know what's going on rather than helping being in the dark, which helps fuel the negativity.
More sports that want to prove they're not the WWE should do this. Knowing Prem players, the league would either have to put it on a brief delay to censor all the foul language the ref's mics would pick up, or start handing out draconian fines the way they do in golf.
