To inherit possibly the world's best player who plays out his peak years while you're at the club plus iniesta etc etc etc - a truly once in a lifetime team - and you're just in place as the manager - I call that very lucky especially as they were also backed by massive crowds, state TV and millions in finance - being manager of Barcelona at that time even Sam Allardyce couldn't have failed

Mourinho had a good team, even outstanding by little Porto's standards but Porto are not Barcelona with a magic generation

Sometimes you just have to remind yourself that Jose Mourinho won the Champions League with the likes of Porto and Inter not the Barcelona's Real Madrid's or even Bayern Munich. Pep won it with Barca's best team ever, most of the players already in situ including a young Messi and not scouted by him.

Winning the champions league with Barca and noone else is good but hardly outstanding, winning it with Porto (and Inter) is truly outstanding.

He won it as manager of Porto and not with the huge TV money and financial power of Barcelona, what a manager he was at his peak, unbelievable really.

He got lucky once?

Not to say he's not great but if you're trying to build a case around one cup run you can make a giant out of Roberto Martinez. And that Inter team was filled with all time great players so I'm not sure that was any different to what you've derided in that post.
