It would put him on 20 goals this season if he taken and scored them

It's a bit of a nonsense considering the rules of the PL allow you to name a 25 man squad. So in theory you could make 11 changes every game if you really wanted.

if they don't want lots of rotation then the squad size should be reduced.

Not quite similar, but in the same parish...City were more or less running away with the league, theirs to lose etc.
They had a nice hard working balanced, very skillful side.
They had a player in the Denis Stevens / Alan Harper mold...Connor? Coleman? (@PaulPowersTash?) Did all the hard unfashionable work, let Bell Lee Summerbee do the glam stuff
They bought Marsh, which disturbed the balance, lost the league.

Not quite similar, but in the same parish...City were more or less running away with the league, theirs to lose etc.

Rodney Marsh completely derailed our season and potential title win that season after Malcolm Allison bought him for a club record fee (£200,000).
He ended up dropping Mike Doyle who was the heartbeat of our team to accomodate him in the side.
A genuis Rodney Marsh was, but the last thing a close knit team of grafters like City needed at that time was Rodney 'Look at Me' Marsh.
Alan Oakes, Tommy Booth, Mike Doyle George Heslop etc did the grafting whilst as you say, Bell, Lee and Summerbee did the rest.
