Deliberate implies intent. A naturally moving arm connecting with a ball is not always deliberate. None of them are pens.

If that pen yesterday was given against us no one on the forum apart from you would say it was a penalty.

You are arguing from hypotheticals though. Yes, a naturally moving arm connecting with a ball is not always deliberate - but that wasn't why Wards or Lindelof's were given.

Watch Ward's penalty again - when Digne heads that his arm is in a natural position, bent inwards with the hand across his chest. The hand then swings out (probably out of reflex to block the ball) as its headed past him. That is why it was given yesterday, why it would always be given (if the ref saw it) and why it would have been a penalty even if it had taken place against us.

Please bring back referees trying to determine what a player meant to do when making decisions is such a nonsense argument.

Side question: did people get this torqued up when they got rid of the back pass law? I don't think anyone is old enough to remember changing the offside rule from 3 back to 2 but I imagine it wasn't this stupid with criticism.

Nope.

Well you said both were deliberate so you must think both were with intent...

My opinion is as Ward spins his arm spins with him and goes out. I also would argue it's still within his natural "silhouette too".

There is no way you can argue the below was Lindelof deliberately moving his hand in a fashion to connect with the ball. If you do then we shall end it here as further discussion is pointless.
