My heart says he is wrong and my head says he is right. We are an established middling Premier League club. For someone who started going in 1968 that is an almost unbelievable scenario. We have been in Administration twice this century, we were still in administration 10 years ago. Ambition then was to survive.
We have too many older players and too many players out of contract this summer. Some steps have been taken to rectify that and I think Roy and the club knows his future.
The real issue for the fans lately is not banging on about success and cups.Roy is missing the point there. It is about playing with guts, effort and pride. That is what has been woefully lacking in recent games.We have never had a team of top players. Even when we finished 3rd in 91 we had one or two very good players and a team of competent players who would run through brick walls every week and tackle like hyenas.
That is what Palace fans expect. Put on the red n’ blue like it means something.
And it had better mean something tonight.
