To take a penalty you take a decent sized run up and blast the ball in the roof of the net. Even up until about the mid 00’s players very rarely missed penalties, why the hell did they suddenly decide to start taking them like berks?

Dangerous play is a red card so even though he didn't mean it, I think its hard to say that isnt dangerous. Its a tough call, I can understand the decision although I think its harsh.

'Dangerous play' is when there is no contact and is a caution and indirect free kick.

If there is contact the ref has to interpret whether it was 'careless' or 'reckless' play or whether 'excessive force' was used. In these cases a direct free kick is awarded and a red card.

Think this would have to be considered careless or reckless as he wasn't looking but should have been aware.
