I don't agree with it whenever it happens. I don't agree with them adjusting the handball rule this season for example both on the actual rule side and the fact that it is the middle of the season.

I think that's what it is being framed as. I'm not convinced based on who is most outspoken about it that is what it actually is. We're what, two months removed from the big clubs trying to pass through an extortion of everyone else? They shouldn't be trusted on anything.

Agreed on both - but the reality is rules change every year, for various reasons & I suppose the principle if it affecting everyone for the same amount of games levels the playing field.

regarding point 2; I think you are spot on & their stunt has put the kibosh on this ultimately, but probably not for the right reasons.

I buy the argument that managers are afraid to use 2nd and 3rd Sub for fear of injury; soft tissue injuries are up over 40% and we have seen first hand, with James at Southampton, the stress seeing an injured player after 3 subs made and managers are no longer prepared to take that kind of risk.

There are 72 leagues in Europe; 71 have gone to 5 subs. Says it all

Again it's really no excuse. If you don't make your allocated subs, you don't need more subs.

The James situation, or any equivalent, is that you make your subs, and if a player gets an injury, they just have to come off. If you are that concerned about player welfare, you will be happy to jettison the result anyway.

So if it's just random, and we have "no idea...when a player will break down" what good is having more or less subs going to do?

We are losing the art of using Subs to affect a game, which is a fantastic part of football. Managers are saving them for fear of injury (which is a self perpetuating problem), if there were more, managers can tactically introduce subs as well saving one or two for injury.

The prime example of this was Man City V Liverpool, which I watched. They shook hands on 70 mins because neither manager were prepared to take a risk

That or if you're concerned about a player due to the likelihood of getting such soft-tissue injuries, you make a preventative substitution to ease the strain.

I mean they are your opinions, but they don't relate to the question asked.

If we can't predict when injuries come, what good are more subs going to do? Like essentially what benefit is subbing a player going to have over resting one?

Id agrue, Yes me ;-), managers cant use allocated because they need a spare. it's a rainy day fund within each match.

Secondly, we have seen time and time again with concussion and injuries that managers leave players on when they shouldn't & I think it is fair to say this vote shows perceived advantage / results have been prioritised ahead of player welfare here.

Yes of course. Or you just don't start the player and give them a week off.
I can appreciate leaving one player due to the potential of another player receiving an injury, but again I'd consider using that substitute later in the game.

This could be around the eightieth minute mark or beyond. Making no substitutions at all either shows you do not trust your bench or the XI are fine as they are.

Klopp may think he's making a point by not making any chances, but in reality he just looks like a bell.

They can make the subs, they just risk having to player for a few minutes with 10 players. That is their choice not to do so.

He is just making the argument for making 5 look stupid when he doesn't make 1.

I'd agree in principle, but managers simply don't do it unfortunately. Again it's a welfare issue & managers should have proven time and time again that is not their priority

But it's not really about what you or I agree or don't agree with.

The fact is, managers can substitute players. Using the 3 subs is a far bigger issue than giving them more subs to use.
