Club philosophies are nonsense. It’s all about managerial talent and playing talent. United just had two genius managers and have won nothing either side of that. Similar to us we had Catterick and Kendall and have pretty much won nothing outside of that. Barca has Cruyff and then he to wait until Messi came along to start regurlarly winning. They could fall back to nothing once he retires if poor managers continue to be hired.

Chelsea league winning managers: Mourinho, Ancelotti, Conte
Managers who didn’t win it: Scolari, AVB, Sarri, Avram Grant, Di Matteo, Benitez.

It’s all about accumulation of a world class manager and then giving him world class players. We hire mediocre managers and give them terrible players then get bemused when it doesn’t work.
