This isn't an underdog story Clive Tyldsley and let's not even try advancing that narrative when a billion dollar conglomerate is pumping money in. Super League now.

Their record signing is £26m and they have a £30m budget this Summer. Let’s not pretend just because they have a billion dollar owner they have the financial clout the other teams do.

Yeah it certainly isn’t an underdog story. There’s a reason Leipzig are always hovering close to FFP trouble, they pump in a lot of money into that team in comparison to what they make.

They have spent a fortune over the last few years to get to this point.

They are a horrible plastic football club, tonight was a rare time it was good to see them win.

Can’t ignore that they have a very good side as a feeder club for them that they can use to develop players exactly how they want and take off them for pittances.

I’d still argue it’s underdog compared to who they’re up against at this level. Record transfer is less than Watford’s. Playing a team with a £100m+ forward (Felix) and £60m striker (Morata) on the bench. Will play PSG with two £100m+ players in the team.

They bought success up till promotion to the Bundesliga but after that it’s all down to proper coaching, decent scouting and the Red Bull network. Since promotion to Bundesliga their net spend is almost even.
