Max Thompson, a young forward who has played only a handful of games for the Under-18s this season and last, has left the club to join Burnley.

Thompson joined Everton Academy from Manchester United in the summer of 2018. Last season, he appeared mostly as a sub in 7 games, with only one start in the Liverpool Senior Cup. He did get on the score sheet as a sub in the 10-0 mauling of West Brom but does not appear to have done enough to become a key member of the squad for the current season.

He has been used less and less as a substitute as the U18 Premier League season has progressed, with the youngsters lurching from huge wins (10-0 over Sunderland) to hugely embarrassing losses (6-1 at home to Liverpool).
