This is like the wealthy tourists who pay big money to "climb" Everest when they aren't even remotely capable, and don't come back alive. Really cannot feel that arsed for them.

I’m no math expert but if the vessel can reach depths of 10,000 feet under water and technology has so far only been able to rescue people at 2000 feet under water then I am not very hopeful that they will be found

Best guess is that its suffered a catastrophic power outage, no idea how it will have plummet to the ocean bed without controls, it'll have been engineered to survive much more pressure than expected to endure (basic engineering percentages) but is life support operational automatic or were they burning oxygen a matter of hours into the operation. They could well be sat in pitch black and cold, with a couple of sandwiches and a bottle of water between em. Sub could be on its side or upside down, no idea what fail safes for comms are built in, auto sos buoy? A very grim situation to face. Apparently there's at least one sub lost with all lives (three) previously?

I can't get my head round the father taking his teenage son with him, putting you're own life in danger when you've lived a wedge of it, but a 19 year old lad? I know technically he's an adult and can 'make his own decision' but, I just can't get there, can't understand a parent allowing their child to face that level of risk.

I used to think the same about my dad every time he went the bathroom. J Robert Oppenheimer absolutely used samples from the air in there.
