Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

The Unobstructed View
sick of buying the things for them to " not work ". had the 'arl fashioned butterfly type.........crap, had the other type that slices off the top of the can........crap. the latter seen to stop gripping the top of the can. is this because the lip on the can is a different size so as to use less metal, maybe the cans need a grippy edge, a bit like tyres used to have on to run a dynamo and are now being manufactured with again due to led lights that run off dynamo's and can store a little power for when you stop.

tin-openers though, sick of the things, i use my swiss army knife but mrs b.o.g. cant use it due to being cack-handed.
i would imagine corkscrews are often of a similar crap quality as well.

I think we have gone through about 4 tin openers this year. We bought 1 from Asda and it cost about £4 and lasted a good few months, then we bought 2 butterfly 1s which were cheap as chips, they lasted about a week each!! So just before xmas we bought another £4 1.

Watch this space for more tinopener news.

Ring Pulls are the future of tins my freinds

this saga continues, we ended up with 2 as i got one and the mrs came home with one as well, they both carked it about 6 weeks in and after using the victorinox again for a while and getting numerous "when will you be back i need a tin opening" phonecalls, i ended up getting one from tesco, all seemed hunky-d for a while you felt the thing puncture the can and a definate removal of the top took place, now it does wheel spins around the thing without doing much.

i am well brassed off with the things now, i blame falling standards in the engineering industry, more than likely due to the fact that the industry was neglected and apprentices not trained, giving us now a semi-skilled workforce who just dont have the expertise that this once world leading nation/region formerly had.

thats right it's all your fault THATCHER.
imo, although i await her spin doctor coming on and singing her praises, just the sort of person she used to look after, whilst neglecting the majority, stuff the workers and pamper the ego's of the money men, they'll build this country up again.
"so what if they cant eat baked beans, let them eat petis pois"

Few things more frustrating than a jarg tin-opener. I hate those crappy all metal ones, with the holes in the key that annoy your fingers. Need a big fcuk-off one to do the job.

I only use the old fashioned ones tbh.

Never had much of a problem. Though they do tend to skid a little if you have a limp grip.

yeah but the new ones click shut and slice the top off, 'cept they cease to lob top off fairly early doors, the swiss army is a breeze but she needs one from Ned Flanders shop as she's lob-handed.

32 in june! I use them coz they work and I can not ever use a proper tin opener. Pretty sure they are right handed only.

Hardly use it though as I try to get tins with the ring pull!
