Time Wasting

Everyone does but the ref needs to look at it. When Howard has done it, he gets booked, so not sure why Speroni did not get booked.

Palace took their time on each throwing, and the ref did nothing.

Mairrner had a poor game.

if we had scored first, palace wouldn't have been time wasting....we do it every away game too...

we messed up big time last night....

There was major time wasting but we did get six minutes added which was fair. You can't expect the referee to add 10 mins for that last night. Maybe it was a minute or so too little, but it was a fair amount, so he did his job alright in the end in as much as despite 'allowing' them to time waste during the 90 mins he added the correct amount of time on at the end. We were just poor and outperformed.

Marriner was really poor, gave us nothig, but I can't see what he can or should do about this to be honest. Its a legitimate thing to do and we would do it, just knocking it about.

He was alright mate. There were no penalty shouts, no dodgy free kicks, he allowed them to waste time but correctly added the majority of it back on in time added on. He was fine.

if you want Champs league football, you should he able to beat Crystal palace in 45 minutes....

Nonsense.

Chelsea are going for the title and are in the CL semi finals, they couldn't beat Palace recently. Every team is capable of beating there opponents, it's this sort of arrogance that leads to shocks.

Palace doing what they thought and what what most teams do after conceeding, and that is taking the sting out the game with the comeback team-dont blame them

The time wasting was not the reason we lost last night, but it is something that wasn't handled correctly by the referee.

All he needed to do was book their keeper, and he would have had to stop doing it. Several of their players kicked the ball away after the whistle too, and didn't get booked. They know exactly what they were doing, yet the referee did nothing to contain it.

Time wasting, along with diving, is one of those issues that needs to be sorted out and clamped down on. Its a (very mild) form of cheating, to gain an advantage.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind teams playing direct or aggressive football, you have to play to your strengths. But time wasting should be punished, to prevent it happening...surely???

This has always been a bug barer for me hate it when Howard does it, hate it when any goal keeper does it, this is not sour grapes either don't blame Palace for doing it, it's the refs I Blame. Last night in the first half a ball boy placed the ball on the 6 yard box for a goal kick but the keeper picks it up a strolls across to the other side to take it that can't be allowed to happen. I feel the powers that be need to do something to speed up the game and have the ball in play as much as poss after all that was why the rule that goal keepers are only allowed to take 6 steps before releasing the ball.

didn't mean it in an arrogant way that we should just expect to beat them, i meant it in the context of the season.....

we had 5 games to get champs league football, a dream prize....
Palace had 5 games to get 3 points to stay up...you could probably argue they were already safe before last night...

so last night we were playing against a weaker team, but also a team with less to gain from winning....it was an amazing opportunity last night for our players, and we couldn't do it....and if you don't grab an opportunity like that, you won't get champs league football (or,deserve it).....we've let Arsenal out of jail

If were 1-0 up on Sunday and there's 10 minutes to go I'd expect the same, swings and roundabouts pal.

There's worlds of difference between 10 minutes to go and 22 minutes gone. It started literally as soon as they scored. If Speroni had had so much as a talking to by the half hour, that would have knocked it on the head. Totally understand it defending a lead within injury time, but they were properly trying it on. As far as the ref goes, the added time in the second half was for the two head injuries, not for Palace dithering.

On which note we didn't look like scoring in those wasted minutes anyway, so fair play to Palace that we couldn't break them down.
