2025/26 Tim Iroegbunam

The middle of the park needs legs and energy. You’d be finding a way to get him and Rohl in there.
It needs legs but we need better CBs desperately too. They don't seem capable of dealing with even the most simple situation. They have absolutely no redeeming qualities, both have no pace, no coordination, terrible judgement, no composure and both are terrible on the ball. The opposition know even the most hopeful ball is worth chasing because they are very likely to make a mess under the slightest pressure. Oh for the days of Jags, Lescott, Dustin who could physically dominated even the best strikers in the league.

Wouldn't go that far. Garner's been one of our best performers this season.

But Iroegbunam has improved from last season, doesn't rush things after winning the ball or switch off when tracking runners.
Garner is ok but we are awful in midfield and he's 50% of that. He completely disappears in games.

I think Ghana is the pressing issue. We need players who are willing to take a risk in midfield and we haven’t got that. Rohl and Tim can both carry the ball and Rohl looks a decent passer. Ghana wins the ball but gives it back and always plays the wrong pass when he is pressing up the pitch.

I see a lot of Gareth Barry in him, it's easy to overlook his good work in recycling the ball and dictating the tempo.

Our other midfielders don't really do that. Gueye is the one that needs phasing out since he forces us into that two DM setup.

He is absolutely no where near Barry's class. He far close to Tom Davis. Barry oozed quality on the ball, could turn and manipulate the ball and had a wand of a left foot. Garner barely makes a forward pass and he virtually always just plays the most simple pass possible the way he is facing. If he takes more than two touches he loses the ball. Bang average.

Alright, we aren't going to agree on that.

He absolutely does not dictate the tempo of games at all. I’m not sure I’ve seen him have one game like that since he’s been here.

Knee jerk insanity in here

You could make an argument Gana was our best player last year

He hasn't fallen off a cliff. He's a DM. He's doing what he's always done - if we're looking at him as the reason we aren't getting enough attacking returns, we're barking up the wrong tree.

I'd like to see Moyes do more by mixing up our midfield and playing different skill sets of players depending on what's required in a certain match, or period of a match. We're crying out for more attacking-minded midfielders when chasing a goal.

That's fine. But we can't just have all attacking mids out there or we'll be screaming about why we aren't playing any defensive mids

I see plenty of promise in this lad.

When he first arrived he looked really impressive, then went off the boil a bit.

His cameos of late have been really good, and he's still young with scope for improvement.

I think he might just make it.

He certainly isn't doing what he's always done.

He's now playing further forward, each interception is followed by a foul and a misplaced pass.

I love Gana, but people need to take their Gana Goggles off for a minute.
